A bronze Sestertius minted under Severus Alexander during the first half of the 3rd century in the Roman Empire. The Sestertius is the largest regular issue bronze denomination minted during the Roman Empire being worth 1/4 of a silver Denarius. This century would be known as the Crisis of the Third Century as the Roman Empire became unstable and chaotic. Bust of Severus Alexander on the obverse and the goddess Providentia standing left on the reverse.
